See what KEXP's DJs chose as their Top 10 albums of 2006.
|

- (In the Red)
This Brooklyn trio’s debut album is a charming, lo-fi blend of reverb-drenched, shoegazer guitar noise, fast tempos and ‘60s girl group harmonies that’s reminiscent of primitive ‘80s-era Scottish bands the Vaselines and the Shop Assistants. 10/8/2008 -Don Yates

- (Polyvinyl)
The 9th album from Kevin Barnes & co. is one of his boldest, most adventurous works to date, featuring rapidly shifting, multi-part songs that frankly explore sexuality from a variety of perspectives while continuing the musical evolution of his recent recordings by combining quirky psych-pop with catchy pop-funk. Considering the album’s sound and subject matter, it’s not surprising that Prince looms large here as a big musical, lyrical and even vocal influence. 10/7/2008 -Don Yates

- (What's Your Rupture?)
The 2nd album from this Swedish band is another excellent set of lo-fi, New Waveish dance-punk, combining jittery rhythms, angular guitar lines, girl-group chimes and handclaps, bleating sax and Josephine Olausson’s hyper vocals for another exhilarating musical ride. 10/7/2008 -Don Yates

- (XL)
The debut album from the Canary Islands-born, Barcelona-based Pablo Diaz-Reixa (aka El Guincho) is a deliriously upbeat, sample-heavy, multi-layered and highly rhythmic blend of Afro-pop, Tropicalia, calypso, Bollywood, early rock 'n' roll and much more. 10/7/2008 -Don Yates

- (Creaked)
One of this year’s more innovative electro-pop albums, the debut full-length from this Swiss production duo is a playful, adventurous blend of off-kilter electronic beats, African rhythms, odd noises and catchy pop hooks for a distinctive sound taking in everything from Hot Chip and Timbaland to Kraftwerk and Konono No. 1. 10/2/2008 -Don Yates
